"Hand pads" are a great alternative to the traditional gloves for the gym. The biggest problem with using gloves is that they make your hands sweaty, which means that after just a couple of uses they start smelling really bad. With hand pads you can eliminate this problem because the padding is only in the places where you actually need it - the palm of the hand. Another great addition is the rubberized side of the hand pads with which you make contact with the weights, which provides a better grip and prevents slipping.
